Festive Froth

I am happy (and greatly relieved) to report that my mission to acquire a new frother was entirely successful. Froth has been restored. All is right with the world, or at least with my morning coffee.

Meanwhile, on a recent trip to Starbuck's for their eggnog latte I grabbed the bull by the horns and asked the barista what exactly goes into an eggnog latte. There I was expecting a complicated explanation like: vanilla Syrup reduced over low heat for 6 hours, added to special espresso brewed only from the finest beans from a small coffee plantation in Madagascar, plus homemade eggnog made by the grandmother of the founder of Starbuck's from eggs laid by a rare breed of Icelandic hen. Nope. It's basically eggnog and coffee. That's it. I can soooo do that at home!

And I did!

Exhibit "A":

Basically, I took eggnog, diluted it a bit with some milk, heated it up, broke out the frother and added coffee. Even spruced it up a bit with some freshly ground nutmeg. Mmmmm. It is gooood. Luckily I bough reduced fat eggnog and am using nonfat milk or I'd be Santa-sized in no time. May be in any event.

But just in case Starbuck's feels threatened by my coffee-making prowess, please note that the fabulously festive mug in the picture was in fact purchased at Starbuck's. So they are still getting my cash. And after last year's less than successful attempt to make a peppermint latte at home, I'll still be headed to Starbuck's with great regularity.

All you frothers out there try it! If you like eggnog and you like coffee, you will love love love this.

Froth on.
