The letters of the musical
alphabet are: ABCDEFG. When you go forward in the musical
alphabet, you go higher in pitch and up the staff. When you go
backward in the musical alphabet, you go lower in pitch and
down the staff.
We place notes on the staff.
These notes represent different pitches. You must know where
on the staff these notes are placed. You must pay attention to
your clef sign. Violinists read treble or G clef. The clef assigns
the note names to particular lines or spaces.
