The Creators

Few facts are known about Duncan Gill and Nigel, the two men who thought up, designed, and programmed MDuel. True Mduelers reverently call them 'The Creators'. Much of what is said concerning Duncan and Nigel is merely legend. The only thing that is known for certain is that The Creators were both medical students who were in need of extra money during their time in school. It was for that reason that Duncan and Nigel spawned the sublimely excellent game that is Marshmallow Duel. When the authors of this page last conversed with Nigel over the Internet he expressed surprise that the game was still being played.

However, one is hardly satisfied by those few drab, artificial lines, especially if one is an Mdueler. Therefore, we shall diverge from facts to fantasy and discuss some of the myths surrounding The Creators.

Some say that Duncan and Nigel are themselves deities who created MDuel so that humankind might better understand the Universe in which we live. Other less religious Mduelers insist that The Creators are nonexistent. They say that the game always existed in some form or another and always presented itself as the built instead of the builder so as to better observe the world around itself. Others believe that The Creators are alien ambassadors whose species communicates through MDuel. Thus, the introduction of the game into society was their attempt to contact humanity. There are even those who believe that Duncan and Nigel are the codenames for secret agents in the service of some super-esoteric council of fiends who seek to spread the message of a new world order through the brilliant composition of art and wisdom that is MDuel.

All veteran Mduelers hope or pray that The Creators will someday return to their brainchild and improve it-We don't know how it could possibly be improved, but we have faith that THEY could do it. Someday, perhaps, they will come back.

But alas! That day is not today.
