I am a participant in the REU Pima/UofA Summer Internship Program. Over the past seven years before I returned to school I spent my life being not that smart. I went from being a drag racing, ticket getting, union supporting kid to a student knowing the only true path to enlightenment is through education and the expanse of ones mind.
After graduating high school i decided i knew everything and didn't need to go to college. As such i work in almost every fast food restaraunt in Tucson. To keep myself entertained I worked on VW bugs. One day while going out for some parts, i returned to find my rental on fire. Good times. Soon after, I became a drywaller and then a union electrician. I was trained extremely well through the NJATC and the IBEW. This was probably the most interesting learning experience I have had the pleasure to be a part of thus far in my life. I gained wisdom through this job. Now it is time to build intelligence. At the end of my internship through the program, I ended up getting a second DUI. This caused me to spend 30 days in the pokey. It also caused me to realize the importance of an education. Upon getting out of the joint, i made my way back home and found my car had been confiscated. Thus it was written for me to spend the next two years carless. To put my driving record into perspective, when I tried to get my license back after 2 years of not driving, i still had so many points on my record they wouldn't give me my license back without me going to court. Worry not about my driving ability, I am really good, just hard to keep a license when you do 90+mph everywhere you go. I have since left that life behind me and don't even do 1mph over the speed limit anymore. I am such a wussy.
My favorite accomplishing failure was being a failing recipiant to the Raytheon UofA Pima internship scholarship. I was one of 10 individuals who were selected to work as interns at Raytheon while they paid my way through school. Unfortunantly, my background check came back negative and was unable to work at Raytheon. Oh well. If I was working there i couldnt be participating into his great internship I have the ability to now. Also i believe everything happens for a reason and getting denied at Raytheon just made me realize that a Ph.D. is what i am truly after.
Computer/Electrical Engineering is my major. I also practice the guitar that i currently am not that great at. Since i don't drink anymore, my pool game isn't as good as it should be. I also train and meditate to further my enlightenment in my Buddhist ways.
