Mr. Sharp came to Plainview about 40 years ago and took up a claim on a place on Runningwater draw. Later, after he had lived out the claim he went to Mansfield, in Tarrant County, and moved back here 16 years ago. At the time of his death he owned business property in the city and farming land in this county.

Mr. Sharp was born May 16, 1859, at Estill Springs, Tenn. He moved with his family to Hill County and lived for many years near Itasca, Texas. He was married in Tarrant county to Mrs. Ida Riley and five children were born to this union, all of whom survive; R. T. Sharp, Plainview; W. H. Sharp, Floydada; George C. Sharp. Jr., Houltom [sp], Maine; Mrs. Jesse Melton, Weslaco; Henry F. Sharp, Cheyenne, Wyo. His first wife died in 1903. Two sisters also survive: Mrs. M. S. Mullins, DaIlas, and Mrs. Sally Hall, Waco.

He was married in 1915 to Miss Celia Murphy of Nashville, Tenn., and she survives him. Mr. Sharp also leaves five grandchildren.

This morning relatives had been unable to locate George Sharp. Jr., whose last address was Houltom, Maine. Funeral arrangements were held up pending word from this son and from relatives in Tennessee. Fields Funeral Service prepared the body for burial, which will be made in Plainview cemetery.
