The mermaids swimming by below are representative, but not nearly all, of the merpeople of Norfolk, VA. Above is my favorite, Princess Azalea, who lives in a pond outside Norfolk's celebrated maritime museum Nauticus. Lisa Suhay has written a book about the Norfolk mermaids.
