ARTGROUP ERGANI LAUNCHES A GROUP EXHIBITION
Recently a number of artists in and around Schoten formed the association Artgroup Ergani. The main objective of the artists was to create a platform for reaching the general public with their art. Among the group's current activities are putting an etching up for sale and arranging a series of exhibitions in the Fortis Art Gallery, on 46 Paalstraat in Schoten.
Artgroup Ergani has ten members, all of whom have made their marks as artists. Several members practice their art professionally or semiprofessionally.
Metta Myers
Metta Myers is an American artist who is a guest of the art group. She received her training from Periklis Pagratis and Danni Dawson. One of her works, entitled "Still Life with Fruit," is included in the exhibition. Her techniques are based on those of the old Flemish masters, but she dislikes severe lines and color contrasts. She prefers to paint colors and tones that when seen from a distance, blend harmoniously with their surroundings.Original text:
ARTGROUP ERGANI V.Z.W. PAKT UIT MET EEN GROEPSTENTOONSTELLING
Onlangs richtten een aantal kunstenaars in en om Schoten de Artgroup ERGANI v.z.w. op. De kunstenaars van wie er verscheidene professioneel of semi-professioneel met hun kunst bezig zijn, zochten langs deze weg in eerste instantie een platform om met hun kunst het publiek te bereiken. Dit zal o.a. gebeuren door een reeks tentoonstellingen in de Fortis Art Gallery aan de Paalstraat 46 te Schoten en door het aanbieden van een ets die door de steunende leden kan aangeschaft worden.
Artgroup Ergani v.z.w. bestaat totaal uit tien kunstenaars die allen hun sporen al ruimschoots verdiend hebben.
Metta Myers
De Amerikaanse kunstenares die te gast is in de kunstgroep waarvan een werkje ("Stilleven met fruit") hier op de tentoonstelling te zien is. Metta kreeg haar opleiding van Periklis Pagratis and Danni Dawson. Haar werken zijn gebasseerd op de technieken van de oude Vlaamse meesters, zij vertrekt vanuit kleur en sfeer, zij houdt niet van de strenge lijn en toonwaardencontrasten. Zij wil de kleur en toonwaaren van de onderwerpen laten zien in een harmonische kleur die vanop afstand samenvloeien tot sfeer en licht.
