Welcome to the Western Pacific Railroad GP20 Site - a source for information and education on Western Pacific Railroad EMD GP20s and all of EMD's production of this model. This site is dedicated to this locomotive model - which has been cited as the beginning of EMD's new generation of motive power.

Purpose:

My goal is to help preserve the understanding, history, and importance of the EMD GP20 locomotive model. I will try and do this by sharing information with those interested through the pages of this web site. Western Pacific received one of the first production units of this model and it is now preserved at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum at Portola, CA.

You will find information and history on the Western Pacific GP20s as well as historic information about all of EMD's production of their GP20 model. These pages will change as I find new information, so stop by every now-and-then to see what is new. I am always open for new information that you may want to share, or changes to items that I have, or just want to talk about the GP20s. So please contact me through the link on the left side of the page.

For more information on the Western Pacific Railroad and our GP20 WP 2001, please visit the Feather River Rail Society's web site, it is a must for those with an interest in the Western Pacific Railroad. You may want to become a member of the Society (which includes the Historical arm of the FRRS) to help preserve the history of the Western Pacific Railroad as well as WP 2001, and by getting involved with the many activities that are going on at the museum.
