Work Experience

Employer: The University of Florida.
Position: Lab Coordinator / Regenerative Medicine Technology Support
From: 01-25-00 to present

About work:
I ran the Transgenic Core facility, operating under the jurisdiction of the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center, from 2000-2007. I now am working ensuring group regulatory compliance, personnel training, and asset management for the University of Florida's Regenerative Medicine community. I am actively engaged in continuous web development fro the Regeneration Project and the Program in Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine. I also act as a consultant to the University IACUC, and previously served a 2 year term on the EH & S' Institutional Biosafety Committee.

Employer: Self / Freelance.
Position: Consultant
From: 01-25-00 to present

About work:
I offer consultancy services, primarily in the area of murine transgenic service development and IACUC animal proposal development.

Employer: Self / Freelance.
Position: Webmaster / Website Developer
From: 05-01-96 to present

About work:
I offer website development services, primarily in the area of educational sites.

Employer: The University of Pennsylvania.
Position: Transgenic Core Facility Manager
From: 10-14-97 to 01-14-00

About work:
The responsibilities of this position were the inception and development of a full service Transgenic Core facility, operating under the jurisdiction of the Institute for Human Gene Therapy. At this location I supervised personnel and directed their efforts to provide pronuclear microinjection, murine line rederivation, embryonic stem cell targeting and injection for the University of Pennsylvania's research community. This Core facility provided Penn's research community with over 60 novel transgenic constructions successfully inserted into the mouse genome, comprising in excess of 500 founder lines. Additionally, as Penn's sole provider of rederivation, over 60 compromised murine lines were decontaminated and moved into SPF barrier facilities with a 100% success rate. Some 12 gene targeted lines were generated also over a 1.5 year period.

Employer: Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Position: Research Specialist II
From: 05-02-94 to 10-3-97

About work:
Duties included maintenance and administration of an extensive animal colony, with many constructs derived through Embryonic Stem Cell injection or pronuclear microinjection. Techniques employed were those of both forms of microinjection, together with all associated manipulations to carry a project through from injection to live births and the breeding strategies necessary for bringing projects on line. This effort required supervision and training of associated personnel and their direction towards these goals. Additionally, I assisted in the training of animal care and laboratory staff in the area of rodent husbandry on a voluntary basis.
