Coach Mario Pereira

Mario has been playing and coaching soccer for over 30 years. The Portugal native played professionally in the NASL with the New England Tea Men and also trained with the R.I Sharks of the ASL until the league folded. Mario joined the LASA First Division and played for 15 years, winning five championships.

He was an East Providence High School All-State, All-New England, and First Team NSCAA McDonald's All-American. He was named as the Providence Journal's Co-Athlete Of The Year In 1975. While playing at the University of Rhode Island, he was a two time All New England forward and still holds the record at URI for the most goals scored in a half (3). Mario returns as head coach of the Mens Rhode Island Stingrays for the 2005 season after a one year leave.
