Hi Homeschool Families,
We are so-o-o  excited about this rest home service project!

REST HOME SERVICE PROJECT UPDATE 50+ HOMES HAVE BEEN VISITED DURING THE MONTHS OF DECEMBER 2002-FEBRUARY 2003!  THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL THE FAMILIES WHO PARTICIPATED IN ANY WAY.  WHAT A BLESSING YOU HAVE BEEN TO SO MANY!  MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO WENT WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS TO VISIT REST HOMES; TO THOSE WHO PRAY FOR THE ELDERLY; TO THOSE WHO TAKE TIME FOR THE ELDERLY WHO ARE PART OF THEIR LIVES-WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE FRIENDS WHO CARE SO MUCH FOR THESE DEAR PEOPLE.

One thing we're hoping is that there might be families in different areas of Omaha who would like to organize some sort of regular or semi-regular visits to their neighborhood rest home and bring a couple of their friends along.  We've found one of the BEST ways for our family to visit a home-especially for our first visit there-is to call the home and ask if you could come and be involved an activity that they have already scheduled.  That way the visitors don't need to plan, perform, or do anything extra.  A family could just come with their children and sit with the elderly, interacting and helping them be involved with the recreational activity.   We've also found good opportunities to help the staff at these functions.  It's a great non-threatening way to build relationships and have a lot of fun!!   -just an idea...
Our family is praying about how we can continue to be involved with a few rest homes throughout the year.  Each visit means so much to these residents; we want to continue to build relationships in the homes that our family is able to visit.
