We are looking for a high school home schooler, girl or boy, to watch 5-6 elementary home schoolers two mornings a month. It would be at our church (Brookside Church) which is close to 120th and L.
It would be the first and third Thursday mornings of each month from the third Thursday in September
to the first Thursday in May. (We don't meet the third Thurs. of Dec. and the first Thurs. of Jan.)
If the person is 17 or younger, we would pay him/her $15 a meeting. If the person is 18 or older,
we would pay him/her $20 a meeting. The meeting times are 9 - 11:15 AM. This is our MOPS meeting,
and these are children that are too old for the MOPS child care, but too young to help with the MOPS child care. They are mostly little girls and
early elementary age. (1st - 4th grades) They would come with work to do. The leader would need to answer any questions on their assignments and
then play with them, read to them, etc. once their work is done. If you know of anyone who is interested, have them call me.

"When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is Someone I could always talk to and I learned to trust.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me good night and I felt loved and safe.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, 'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'"

Here's a really fun & very helpful website
that helps moms get their houses
running smoothly.  I learned about this at the KiDS/ESTHERS discussion group and
it's been such a help in our home!  I just do the beginning intro stuff and delete what is more than I can fit on our plate and it's working!  It's not for everyone; but is definately worth checking out.  www.flylady.com

HERE ARE A COUPLE RESPONSES
IN ANSWER TO THE QUESTION
-HOW DO YOU BALANCE SCHOOL
& DAILY LIFE IN YOUR HOME?

We have a routine for home and school
which is constantly interrupted by activities
not to mention our preschooler, toddler and nursing infant! We're learning to be less traditional and more creative:
  • science experiments after the younger ones go to bed,
  • reading buddies for younger ones while mom works with an older one,
  • listening comprehension after lunch (formerly "story time"),
  • more independent learning for our oldest,
  • synchronized naps for the two youngest,
  •  life skills (chores and errands),
  • and make-up day (Saturday).
  • Sunday is Family Fun Day - no house work or school allowed!
It's an ever-changing process based on the constantly altering needs of our family.-Brigitte Howard

We do school on Monday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday.
Tuesday is Bible Study and a play day
with friends.  If we have something
on Thursday or Friday we just
do school on Saturday morning.
  Since we only do academics
for about 2 hours a day
this works for us at this time.

PRAYER REQUESTS & ANSWERS

Dear Friends & Family -
It's been a little over 2 wks since
Mitch was critically injured.
He has had many surgeries.
 He sustained severe brain injuries.
His eyes open briefly, but there is no
recognition of anything,
though the doctors still say it is
too soon to know what the outcome will be.

Mitch needs nothing short of a miracle.
Please continue to join me in asking
God to provide one!

Thank you so much!
In His Name, Julie Sweet from KiDS

Our son Josiah's ear surgery went excellent.
He has a great doctor and the doctor was
very pleased with the surgery.
We're praying for recovery of his hearing and
will know more over time.  Thanks for praying.
