Breaking: Putts Up Dock will not re-open
Gregory B. Allard of the American Group responded today to my e-mail, informing me that Putts Up Dock, a course in Norwich which I liked, is closed for good. Part of the course was destroyed by fire late last year, and apparently they aren't going to rebuild.
Litchfield High School to hold after-Prom party at Sports Center of CT
Shelton's Sports Center of Connecticut, a facility which includes mini golf, will host the after-party for Litchfield High School's senior prom. I'd have loved a round or two of mini golf after my high school proms... so, have fun, Litchfield. http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19475834&BRD=1658&PAG=461&dept_id=13665&rfi=6
The webpage for Norwich's Putts Up Dock course no longer seems to exist, and the original e-mail I sent them did not send properly. I sent an e-mail to what appears to be their parent group, and I'll keep you posted on any updates.
We're also working on administrative things here at MiniGolf CT - we're moving our e-mail over to a Gmail account, and we're doing other site spring cleaning to prepare for the 2008 season - which we want to be the best in our seven-season history! We plan to play a lot of miniature golf, providing plenty of fresh content for you. Stay tuned: Memorial Day, May 26, is also the traditional start to the mini golf season!
(Note: An original post of this blog post inadvertently referenced a Hartford Advocate article published last year. The article had been posted this year on a blog, hence the confusion.)
Apologies for the slowness in getting this site ready for the 2008 season. I anticipate some time this weekend to do some stuff, and after next week there should be additional time.
Windsor update 1: Fairways in South Windsor had the name of its road changed, according to the Boston Globe. It's now called Spielman Road (not Ellington Road).
Windsor update 2: South Windsor apparently has a place called Perfect Swing at 845 Sullivan Ave, phone # 644-1001. Does anyone know anything about the course - when it came into existence, how good it is, etc? If so, drop us an e-mail.
Paradise Under Par: Looks like it's still for sale
An update on a story we brought to you last year: Paradise Under Par in North Canaan was listed last July at $1.45 million. According to the website of real estate brokerage John Harney Associates, it's still for sale, but is currently listed at $975,000. For more info, go here.
In other news, I visited Monster Mini Golf's Windsor Locks location today. The highest par of the Connecticut locations (if I did my analysis right - they don't publish a par), and plenty of fun surprises. An official review will be posted soon, but I recommend it (as long as you don't mind taking I-91 through Hartford to get there from most of the state!).
Finally, we have an e-mail in to Putts Up Dock in Norwich to check on their 2008 status. We reported last August that a fire had destroyed a section of the course.
Most information from this section provided by The Squeaky Bagel. If you know of other tournaments, or if one of these tournaments is inaccurate, please e-mail us.
