Report June, '01
Introduction from the author: When Calafia asked me to serve as Public
Information Officer for the local council, I thought it would be fun to
write a column as a way of sharing news and information I gather
throughout the year. What's Brewing is the result. It is my hope to
provide you with a brief overview of what is currently brewing in the
Wiccan community, and when possible, point you toward sites where you can
obtain further information. I'll be awarding from one to five wands to
those mentioned in my column who are Wiccan-friendly. The others will be
the recipients of anywhere from one to five toads. We plan to update the
column on a regular basis, so please visit us again soon.
Posthumous Exoneration for Family Accused of Witchcraft: A recent article in the San Diego Tribune reported on families in Salem, Mass. who are pressuring lawmakers to exonerate their ancestors, people accused and sentenced to death for practicing Witchcraft. In 1957, the Legislature approved a resolution that exonerated some of those accused as witches. Three hundred years after their execution, descendents of Susannah Martin, Bridget Bishop, Alice Parker, Margaret Scott, and Wilmot Redd, want their ancestor's names added to the resolution.
I'm shaking my wand in the direction of the lawmakers in Salem, Mass., hoping they'll agree to set the records straight. About time!
Pagan Décor: Two waves of the wand go to HGTV for their article on 'decorating using the elements of nature'. Gosh, I've been doing this for years. Pagan décor is becoming popular, I guess. If you'd like a little inspiration on ways to bring nature indoors, take a quick look: http://www.hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1158,DEID_project_26263,FF.html.
