Homemade Car Tripod

The mount I made consists of an old tripod with its front legs attached to a car trash bucket.

Tripod attachment to the trash bucket.

The tripod mount fits in the open console and is stabilized with a few bags of aquarium gravel.

Bags of gravel in the bucket and around the back leg help keep the mount in place so it doesn't fall over when turning or braking. The wood helps to keep the camera from tipping forward when braking.

Another view.
One problem with this design is that it is not cushioned, so uneven road surfaces result in a bumpy video, especially noticeable when played back at 1x speed.
