Rancho Palos Verdes

The park with the Big W was actually the grounds of a private residence in Rancho Palos Verdes, on Palos Verdes Drive South, just south of Abalone Cove Shoreline Park.

The remaining tree, from the accompanying documentary on the DVD. This was probably shot in the 1990's.

Yucca Valley locations
Thanks to Jeff Drozd for the 2003 photos.

In the movie, Ethel Merman calls her son from the gas station at this location. The gas station was at the southwest corner of CA62 and Kickapoo Trail. It is now a 7-11.

This was the location of the scene where Terry Thomas and Milton Berle get the keys from Ethel Merman. It is just east of the Yucca Valley WalMart at the northeast corner of Balsa Avenue and CA 62. The white buildings seen in the background of the 1962 shots were replaced with a Walgreens Drug Store and Stater Brothers grocery store around 2000. Looking west on CA 62 at Balsa Avenue.

Another then and now view, looking south from CA 62 at Balsa Avenue.

Building is at the northeast corner of CA 62 and Acoma Trail.

CA 247 north of Yucca Valley

These views are on CA 247 near Pipes Canyon Road, north of Yucca Valley.

Worsley Road, old CA 62, near North Palm Springs.

The launch ramp (now gone) where "the Smiler's" car "went sailing out there" was just past the rock outcropping, next to the red car in this shot on the Seven Level Hill area of CA 74.
