Art-A-Fair
It's hard to believe that Art-A-Fair is almost here. The next time I send out a newsletter, Art-A-Fair will have already opened and be in full swing.
If you've never been to Art-A-Fair, then you may be wondering what it is. Art-A-Fair is a festival showing the art of 125 finalists of an international juried competition. The art includes oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylic, drawings, mixed media, photography, computer graphics, sculptures, jewelry, textiles, pottery, glass and wood works. It is located in Laguna Beach, California and runs from June 29th through September 2nd. Please see http://www.art-a-fair.com for more information.
They have some exciting things planned this year:
Preview Night is June 27th - 5PM - 10PM. If you are interested in attending Preview Night, please contact me for tickets because entrance is by invitation only. The tickets are no cost to you.
Free Workshops in Chinese Brush Painting, Drawing, Comic Drawing, Paper Mache, Face Painting, Oil and Pastel, Gourd Painting, and Venetian Mask Painting
Live Music ranging from Light Jazz, Contemporary, Reggae, Motown, Blues, and Classical Music
Tivoli Too - a romantic garden restaurant with excellent food
Cafe Venezia - a new cafe in the front plaza of Art-A-Fair which features martini nights, wine tasting, summer fiestas, and Venetian carnival classics
You will find me in my booth Saturdays from Noon to 5. I also plan to spend more weekday afternoons and evenings there.
More Information About Giclees
As you read last month, giclees are professional, digital reproductions of an original piece of art. The giclees are "printed" using a very expensive printer on to either canvas or Somerset, professional-grade paper. They are guaranteed to last 30 years as long as they are kept indoors and out of direct sunlight. To read more about giclees, please go to http://www.greatgiclee.com/.
My giclees have been produced by either Talon Graphics (http://www.mfaatelier.com/giclee.html) or Harvest Productions (http://www.harvestpro.com/products.htm). They have been printed using an IRIS printer, using archival inks. Every one of my canvas giclees have been coated with a special UV protective coating.
Providing top quality giclees is very important to me. Because of this, my giclees have been produced by some of the top giclee producers in the area. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my giclees.
What Do You Think?
I am interested to hear what you think about my art. Your opinion matters to me. You're welcome to drop me an email at mlarae@cox.net or call me at (949) 362-2539 with your answers to the following questions, and any additional comments you would like to make.
If you have purchased one of my paintings -- what was it that originally attracted you to the painting? What was it that helped you decide to buy?
If you haven't purchased one of my paintings -- was there a painting you wanted to buy but didn't for some reason? What was that reason?
What type of paintings would you like to see me paint in the future?
