Is Elvis' middle name misspelled on his tombstone?
Almost every time Elvis wrote his middle name it was spelled with one "a".  Yet, it's on his tombstone with two!  This has caused many questions.  Heres the explanation as the  Graceland staff understands it:

Elvis was named Elvis after his father, Vernon Elvis Presley, and after a good friend of Vernon's, Aron Kennedy.  Apparently to match the spelling of Elvis' still-born twin's name Jessie Garon, Elvis' parents chose to spell his middle name with one "a" - Aron.  Elvis through most of his life spelled it this way.

Sometime in the last year of his life, Elvis was checking into the possibility of having the spelling legally changed to two "a" because he simply would have perferred that it had been spelled that way to begin with.  Elvis had asked his father why he (Vernon) and his mother (Gladys) had chosen to spell it with one "a", rather than spelling it with two as it was in the bible?

At Elvis and Vernon's request, a family friend, Janelle McComb from Tupelo, Mississippi where Elvis was born, obtain for him a copy of Elvis' birth records from the state of Mississippi.  Either when the doctor originally filled out the birth certificate at the time of Elvis birth, or when the birth records were filled out with the state, or many years later when the state record were put on computer, the middle name was recorded with two "a"s.  For what ever reason, Elvis was listed in the state as Elvis Aaron Presley.

Elvis was delighted that he wouldn't have to bother with the red tape, that would have been involed with his having his middle name changed to the double -"a" spelling he wanted, since it turned out to be legally spelled that way already.   Up 'til this discovery, Elvis' middle name was written with one"a".  After that point, more or less everything including his tombstone, carried the spelling with two "a"s !!
