BackgroundMonte Horton is the Founder and President of Declare His Praise Ministries, a ministry he began in 1994 to see worship gatherings take place across denominational boundaries and to see the hunger for worship as a way of life developed and nurtured within the Body of Christ. Monte has served as a worship pastor in various local church settings since 1988. In June of 2000, he left a 17-year career in Information Technology to accept the call of God to full-time ministry. That calling for this "season" of his life is focused on seeing the vision of Declare His Praise Ministries accomplished. Monte travels extensively throughout the United States teaching on worship as a lifestyle, leading worship in churches, and consulting with pastors and worship leaders whose congregations are going through worship transition. He is an accomplished songwriter and has published four worship recordings, three live and one studio project. His congregational worship chorus, Here Am I, written in 1993 and published that same year by Kent Henry Ministries in Psalmist Magazine, is sung in churches all over the world. His latest project, House of Praise, was recorded in New York City with producer Joe Sicurella. Monte had the privilege of first introducing the recording at Times Square Church in New York City at the personal invitation of Pastor David Wilkerson in July of 2000. The recording features several members of the Times Square Church music ministries family including the Times Square Church Choir and Children's Choir. Monte has served as worship pastor and minister of music in both independent churches as well as in Southern Baptist and Free Will Baptist churches. He has also led music for revivals in Pentecostal, Southern Baptist and Methodist churches. He has been described as having "an ecumenical spirit" and that is greatly evidenced by his ability to minister effectively in so many varied denominational contexts. Monte is ordained and has his ministerial covering through Cornerstone Fellowship in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with Pastors Allen and Lisa Nolan where Monte served as Worship Pastor from November of 1995 through May of 2000. Monte and Jennifer have been married since 1985 and make their home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with their three children: Timothy, Joel and Naomi. They are members
of Grace Fellowship. |
