formed Shandong University system. Its garden-like campus is quiet and
tasteful, full of trees and flowers with its buildings in a style, which
combines traditional Chinese and Western architecture. Sitting at the foot
of the scenic Qianfo Mountain and in the vicinity of the famous Baotu
Spring and with the Botanical Garden to the south and the Square of Spring
City to the north, the school provides an excellent learning and research

| Its long history can be traced back to 1891
when Huamei Medical School was first established in Jinan.
Based on it, Gonghe Medical College was set up in 1903.
And in 1911 the completion of the Teaching Hall of Gonghe
Medical College marked the formal establishment of the
Medical College of Cheeloo University. In 1952, as one of
the earliest medical institutions of higher learning, the
school was renamed Shandong Medical College by merging the
Medical College of Cheeloo University, Shandong Provincial
Medical College and East China Norman Bethune Medical
College. In its more than 100 years' history, the school witnessed
many historic events such as the decline of the Qing
Dynasty, the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War.
After the founding of the P.R.China, the school made
remarkable development in 1950's and 60's, and major
expansion in 1980's and 90's. With the approach of the new
century, the school joined another merge with Shandong
University and Shandong Polytechnic University, which
opened a new page in its history.
