68 Morgan 24  -  Linda Jean

Purchased 10 Dec 2000     Livingston Alabama

Found on Internet,  Looked good except that it was a project boat. It needed lots of things installed or repaired.  Including Mast step, centerboard repair and installation, bottom paint, genoa track, Mainsheet track, lights, circuit breakers, brightwork inside. etc.  The refit had started about 1991 somewhere in West Florida or Alabama, then the boat was sold, sold again and again with out being finished.   I started working on her right away but got slowed down with Car projects,  House projects & sailing my MacGregor 25.   I finally decided I would sell my MacGregor25 so I would be forced to finish the Morgan project boat.   With no boat to sail in the spring of 2004, I again started in on the Morgan 24.  By August, I had her finished enough to christen and go on the maiden sail.      It was an exciting first sail.  Much has been done to make her prettier and more seaworthy since then.   She now has new sails, new sheets, halyards, a boomvang, VHF Radio, and the list goes on.   She was named after my daughter who is a frequent member of my crew.   I have had to rebuild the trailer to make it dependable to travel long distances on the highway.   See more pictures on next page.

66 Morgan 24 -  Barco Viejo

Purchased 4 Feb 05     Homerville, Georgia  -  Sold 10 Oct 09   To William Lariscy

New owner from a forum question and he wanted to sell boat at the right price.  I just had to pick it up and put it on my trailer with a very short timetable.  I picked up this project boat with the pieces piled in the boat for the trip to my house.   It came with a mast, boom and hull, with all the hatches and centerboard ( unattached ) but did not come with any sails.   Since I only have one trailer, I had to put a bottom job on it first so I could float it while I loaded Linda Jean so I could go to events like the Morgan Invasion in St Pete.  I did a quick bottom job and then with it floating I was able to bring Linda Jean back home to do more work on her since I had not finished her in the fall of 2004.   For a while it looked like all I did was work on boats not sail but I was able to attend a few events around the Southeast with Linda Jean.   I finally had Barco Viejo finished enough to sail for the first time using the sails from Linda Jean on Fathers Day in 2006.  My daughter Linda was onboard with me and we had a great sailing my second Morgan 24.  See more pictures on next page.
