Welcome to 7th Grade Science!

SCIENCE and MATH GAMES

Course Description:

This year’s 7th Grade Science course is designed to acquaint students with life science with an emphasis on computers and technology.  This technology-rich course meets the life science portion of the California State Standards for 7th Grade Science.   The curriculum integrates computers to increase students’ technical literacy and prepare them for success in the increasingly technology-driven world of the 21st century. Students will learn about science through demonstrations, cooperative learning groups, labs, multimedia presentations, internet research and self reflection. An emphasis will be placed upon critical thinking skills and collaboration with others to understand basic concepts of life science.

Course Overview:

Students will be introduced to the following material:

Textbooks:
Focus on Life Science (McDougal Littell)

In class books:

HOLT: Life Science (Green book)

Science and Life Issues (SALI)  This is a inquiry based lab book. It is not designed as a reference book but rather a series of activities and experiments that enable student to "discover" scientific concepts.  My goal in science is for students to use higher level critical thinking skill to understand and use scientific concepts rather than the traditional method of memorization.
