Kingsmen Reunion History
Full Corps Reunions
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 20, 1992
Location: The Pavillion Room at the Disneyland Hotel.
Attendance: 65 people
This was a legit coat & tie reunion. We each paid $25 and the corps paid the rest. Plus we each received a free corps show ticket. A lot of fun!

June 19, 1993
Location: Kingsmen Hall in Stanton.
Attendance: 30 people at the banquet, 115 people at the corps show.
This was a strange one. We mailed to every former corps member on the corps show address list. We gave a choice of payment: just pay for the reunion, just pay for the corps show, or to pay for both. Needless to say most people chose the least expensive corps show option.

May 3, 1997
Location: Stromboli's Restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel.
Attendance: 41 responded, 25 showed. A very casual reunion. No fee, other than paying for your dinner. This was our last non-email reunion. I did only one mailing and just let everyone attend or not. It was a lot of fun to go into the park after dinner with our long time friends.

July 20, 2002
Location: Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel.
Attendance: 66 people.
This was an all out effort to get everyone's email address & to start up the reunion website. This really helped. People were referred to the website months before the event. Plus lots of people responded with email addresses. I was able to communicate more & more as the event approached. We had people attend who had never been to a reunion before. We kept it casual, with no fee, other than paying for the normal buffet. It was our best reunion ever.
Note for the future. We all just arrived at 4:00 or so & socialized. Then I put our name in to the restaurant as it opened at 4:50. (Kingsmen, 50 in our party!) Then we were all called to pay at 5:10. We paid one by one and we were called to eat at 6:00. We were all placed in the circular room together and we ate and socialized till we were politely asked if we were done eating at 7:30. Then we broke into small groups and walked through Downtown Disney until the fireworks began at 9:10. I say all this to let you know that the fun socializing goes on both during the meal and while we are waiting and paying. Don't be like some who felt they missed out on a lot of the fun. (They arrived after the meal started).
Side note: With tax & tip the cost was $36 for the buffet. Parking was validated. This is so much cheaper than the $80 per person reunions that my wife and I attend.

August 7, 2004
Location: Soupersalad in Denver.
Attendance: 38 people.
What started out as a small get-together of the DCI bound Kingsmen alumni, blossomed into a full fledged reunion. We met at 2:00 and stayed till after 4:00. Then off to the DCI finals! Lynne Hall Otto gave all of the attending alums a corps hat & button. Very generous and really put us in a festive mood. We had a whole group of first timers to our reunion. (Including: Deb Johnson Gelet, Lynne Hall Otto, Debbie Pouliot Clark, Ed Balluck, Jim Brokke, John "Moose" Fallon, Fred Frederick, Rex Hall, & Chuck Otto).
Side note: The last time DCI & the Kingsmen were in Denver was 1978. That was also my last Kingsmen tour & my last time seeing DCI live till now! But I have every DCI on videotape since '82, (when they switched to the 2 hour format). I also love those new DVD's that DCI sells!

June 24, 2005
Location: Souplantation in Fountain Valley.
Attendance: 48 people (40 Kingsmen alumni & family)
We patterned this luncheon after the successful Denver gathering. We tied the luncheon to the corps show that Friday night at Long Beach Veteran's Stadium. We arrived at 2:00pm and stayed till 5:00pm. The corps show was just up the freeway about a half hour away. Perfect timing really, since the show did not start till 6:30pm. The only small temporary glitch was a power outage for about 20 minutes just before our 2:00 start time. But the power went back on at 2:00pm and we entered and took over one section of the restaurant. This was again a wonderful first time appearance for several alumni. I even billed this as a special rifle reunion, since I was getting so many rifle confirmations.
Side note: We have people who travel to our luncheons and reunions from Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington and of course from all parts of California.

2006-2007
Locations: Western HS, Cal Baptist, Mt. SAC, Long Beach State, Veteran's Stadium, Pasadena Rose Bowl, and many other locations throughout Southerm California. This 2 year project culminated with the performance at the DCI Semi-Finals in August of 2007. It really was a continuous reunion process right down to the day of the final big performance. We kept meeting newly found Kingsmen almost every month right down to the last day!
