Dear Music Educator,
If you are interested in music education for your percussionists please read on.
DAC invites you to compete in drum line competition, (indoor & sometimes outdoor). The judges at DAC are highly trained percussionists who have achieved excellence in percussion teaching. They will help your group reach its’ true potential in musicianship.
We at DAC believe in giving total freedom to the drum instructor and his design staff. Each group has many options: to march or stand still, to use special costuming or regular uniforms, to use props or backdrops or not, to use electronics or not, etc. We believe the choice is yours. We have top winning groups who just stand and play on acoustic instruments. We also have top winning groups who use props, platforms, costumes, electric keyboards, and a marching drill. The judges are looking for the best possible performance for your show.
If you are having problems raising the $400 entry fee, please call. We will try to work with you on the finances. You may enter any show you wish and you will be placed in your appropriate division based on your score that day. DAC gives away a Sweepstakes trophy in each division at the last show. This is based on adding each lines top 2 scores to the Championship score. The Semi-finals will be an important show. This will be the last time to submit a higher score for the Sweepstakes season trophy. The ultimate goal for most lines will be competing in both the indoor marching and the standstill competitions. This special combined winning drumline receives Gold Medals for each performer.
DAC is constantly changing and evolving its concepts in order to best serve the needs of the competing lines. We will always listen to new ideas. But ultimately these competitions are only a means to an end. The music education of the students is our overriding goal.
