Recycling Bin Destroyed by Fire
July 7, 2007

Recycling bin destroyed by fireThe Abitibi paper bin at Mustang Recycles was found Saturday morning to have been destroyed by a fire that appears to have been set deliberately. Mustang police were notified and said they suspect the arson was committed on the Fourth of July, as spent fireworks and beer bottles were scattered around and in the burned bin. The bin is blackened and warped and the plastic lid is completely melted off.

Mustang Recycles volunteers are concerned that Abitibi will not replace the paper recycling bin. A local school Abitibi paper bin was recently destroyed by fire and was not replaced by that company. Abitibi is understandably reluctant to replace vandalized bins due to the risk of vandalism to the new bins.

Mustang Recycles is open Saturdays (except for holidays) from 9am – 11am. Residents are encouraged to take their paper to the Abitibi paper bins at various churches and schools.

UPDATE: Abitibi replaced the paper bin on July 20th.
