Greetings Mustang,

Here is the proposed Resolution of Support that I have asked the Mustang City Council to consider during the August 15th meeting.

“WHEREAS, the council recognizes the need to cost effectively provide citizens the means to recycle materials they use, and
WHEREAS, vendor support is necessary to promote efficient recycling and marketing of recycled products, and
WHEREAS, recycling is necessary to reduce the load on landfill capacity, and
WHEREAS, city staff should serve as a positive role model concerning environmental issues,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT, the City of Mustang promote, implement and encourage the recycling of household waste and
THAT the council secure cooperation from local and state agencies, public and private, to implement cost effective recycling, and
THAT the city purchase recycled materials whenever practical, and
THAT the council encourages citizen participation in recycling through appropriate activities and instructional programs.”

The Resolution of Support is necessary for the DEQ Recycling Equipment grant that can be used for either a trailer for drop off location recycling or individual recycling tubs for curb side pickup recycling. This resolution does not require the city to implement programs until that are practical and supported by the city's vendors.
