City of Mustang Public
Libary: Reuse and Reduce by checking out books,
audio books and DVDs at the City
of Mustang Public Library. By sharing resources, we reduce
paper and energy usage. Besides why buy a book you will only read
once. You can also Recycle by donating books to the library.

Recycling
Commercials: North Carolina’s recycling
program RE3.org
has listed several Public Service Announcements (PSAs) on YouTube
regarding recycling. My favorite is Longing
Can about an empty tin can on the street that wishes it was
recycled so it can be reborn as something new.

Oklahoma Sustainability Network is an environmental education
and activism organization with chapters in many Oklahoma communities
including Oklahoma
City, Tulsa,
and Norman.
This network allows for environmentally minded individuals to
share ideas and projects. It fosters a local environmental community
and hosts an annual conference.

What
is better than recycling? Reusing. Freecycle
is an e-mail and online bulletin board system where your old items
find new homes, keeping them out of the land fill. There are many
groups in Oklahoma and around the world. While there is not one
specifically for Mustang, I find that many Yukon
members are Mustang residents. I also joined the Oklahoma
City group because of it enormous size.

Environmental
podcasts are an excellent way of keeping yourself informed about
new developments in the environmental movement.
The two I listen to are Living
on Earth and More
Hip Than Hippie. Living on Earth is a Public Radio International
show focusing on environmental news and information. More Hip
Than Hippie is produced by two ladies out of Chico, California.
One is a green business owner and other is a full time radio host.
They discuss a different green topic each week as well as the
news of the day and sample organic beer and chocolate if they
can find it.
Both podcasts can be downloaded for free from their website or
you can subscribe at iTunes.
