MVC Alumni celebrated
the 40th anniversary year of the “Company” at the 2003 Reunion (see below). The City of Mission
Viejo celebrated the 40th
anniversary year of the “Community”
in 2006 with these events at Oso Viejo
Community Park/Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center:
Friday, August 4, 2006: A
country hoedown included square dancing, a barbecue dinner, hay rides, line
dancing and a free live country/western concert by the “American Made
Band.” The festivities began with the
barbecue and square dancing at 5:30 p.m. and the concert at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday,
August 5, 2006: Mission Viejo
hosted a free 2006 Target Symphony in the Cities concert at Oso Viejo
Park at 6:00 p.m. The Pacific Symphony Music Director Carl St.Clair offered
light pop and classical tunes, patriotic music and special guest artists, plus,
during the hour prior to the start of the concert there was a “musical playground”
for children that included a conducting clinic.
Children had the opportunity to assist Maestro St.Clair in conducting
during a portion of the concert.

pre-party interviews at the Reunion. Participants: Jim Gilleran, Harvey

Heritage Committee. The program that included the interviews
aired on the local MVTV Channel 30.

The
MVC Alumni Reunion 2003 was a great
success! We
hope that you were able to join this special gathering of former MVC employees
(California and Colorado) and spouses/guests. Few companies provided the sense of “family”
enjoyed at Mission Viejo Company. For
many of us it was the best and most productive time of our lives. MVC employees who were with the Company when
Philip Morris sold it in August 1997 have since reunited at the California
homes of Steve Delson in 1998, Barb Schone in
2000 and Wendy Wetzel Harder in 2001. The MVC
connection was rekindled at this 40th year reunion.
We
tried to locate as many MVC Alumni
as possible. A special thank you to
those who assisted in this effort. Click

THE MISSION WAY
And now the
end is near,
Mission faces the fin-al cur-tain.
Our friends,
we’ll say it clear,
We’ll state our case,
Of which we’re certain.
We planned the very best,
We built each and ev-‘ry high-way,
And more, much more than this,
It was the MISSION WAY.
Set-backs,
we’ve had a few,
The lake was
filled, we’d like to mention,
We did what
we came to do,
And built
our dreams with-out ex-ception.
We de-signed
each master plan,
Each
care-ful map a-long the by-way.
And more,
much more than this,
We did it
our way.
Yes, there
were times, as you know well,
When we
built more than we could sell,
But through
it all, when there was doubt,
We called
PM, they bailed us out,
We terraced
hills, and paid our bills,
We did it
our way.
For “who we
are,” why do we care?
We’re MVC,
we strive and dare,
The “Mission Way” was
“do it right,”
We did our
best to win the fight.
The re-cords
tell, we did it well,
We did it
our way.
It was the MISSION WAY 
MVC 10th Anniversary Year
In
1976 President Gerald Ford visited Mission Viejo in honor of the 10th
Anniversary of the Mission Viejo Community
