Notes for Edwin Tom Rixon:

The official citation said "During a raid on Asiago he encountered a strong enemy post behind the front line. He led his section to attack and he bayoneted two and captured five." Besides the Military Medal, he was also awarded the Italian Croce Di Guerre -- for marked courage and good leadership. He was presented with his medals by King Victor Emanuel of Italy in the presents of the Prince of Wales--now the Duke of Windsor. Ted was only 17 when he joined the Army, but he passed himself off as 18. He went to France in February, 1916, with the 1st-4th Oxon and Bucks Light Infantry "B" Company.
