Sound Effects and Music

Music and sound effects enhance the mood of a story. I used music in my intro and my ending, and several sound effects throughout. I wanted something upbeat to jump start the cartoon. I searched through a large amount of music before I came across the magnificent seven theme performed by Elmer Bernstein & The Royal Philharmonic Pops Orchestra. I like the upbeat, old west feel to it. I feel it gives bubble an almost military feel, yet still playful and innocent.

The sound effects are used to fill the silence and muffle the white noise I had in the background of my voice recordings. I recorded my voice overs with the built in mic on my iBook. The quality is low, so I tried to cover this with background sounds. All the sounds you hear where added post production. I wanted the viewer to hear the sounds the dolphins made, that bubbles was trying to describe.

iMovie has an easy to use audio import. I felt limited by only having 2 audio tracks to work with. I will most likely use a higher end editor next time such as Final cut or Adobe Premier.

Here is a shot of iMovies audio editor.
