Maintenance History Since 1987

Thanks  to the very good records of last two owners of this car (purchased for very nice sum of $63,000) - all maintenance records have been retained.

Here is a little history on this Porsche....


I am the third owner of this fine car.   First owner had it till 1999. The previous owner had the car for a short period of time and found that he had never driven it.  Here is the summary of the maintenance performed on this car.  Previous owner drove the car till mileage of 46,500. The following are applicable Option Codes: C02, P37, 018, 139, 302, 340, 474, 481, and 533 (see Table below for definitions).

Replaced spark plugs, oil, fuel and air filters, air pump filter, and oil.

1) Receiver dryer P/N 944.573.943.00
2) AC hose from compressor to condenser P/N 928.573.097.06

49K 10/15/00 Replaced Installed new cruise control/turn signal assembly.
50K 3/08/01 Installed used cruise control computer.
51K 7/06/01 New hood shocks and new hood seals.
52K 9/18/01 Replaced Warning Control Unit with used unit (COOLANT indication failure).
52.5K 10/31/01 Front brake discs and pads replaced. Vibration dampers installed.
Short service performed: oil & filter; miscellaneous inspection performed.
55K 05/05/01 All wheels re-balanced (tire on wheel & wheel on car), and tires filled with Nitrogen. 
56K 07/01/02 Replaced interior temperature sensor inside center console.
56.6K 10/09/02 Replaced transmission fluid with Mobil 1 75 W-90 (5 quarts). 
57.2K 09/30/02 Added 2 Mobil 1 quarts to engine (was @ LOW Limit of the stick).
60K Jan 2003 Repaired two control switches: driver's seat back recline control (per Rennlist procedure), and sunroof Open-Close switch (forced opened switch and cleaned contacts).
62K Nov. 2003 Replaced entire clutch system:
  • master & slave cylinders,
  • pressure plate,
  • disc,
  • arm/bearing/sleeve set,
  • pilot bearing.

New exhaust flange gaskets.

New O2 sensor (after market Bosch from 928Intl). 

Used Mark's Pilot Bearing Pull-out Tool to take that bearing from hell out!

Total cost:  parts only:  over $900.

62K Jan 2004 Rebuilt Cruise Control Unit by Mazda Mark  ($60!!!) and it still works great in 2005. 
64K 04/27/04 Changed oil pan gasket, replaced oil filter, filled with 10 quarts of Mobil 1 10-30W SuperSyn,

Replaced engine mounts,

Replaced & repacked rear axle boots,

Installed new Aluminum under tray,

installed new front wheel well front shrouds

Total cost: labor: $800; parts: $745; total: $1,545. 

64.5 07/15/04 Put new Michelin Pilot Sport S2 tires.  What a difference on cornering performance.

Tire Rack price for all four:  $780.

Timing belt replaced after 9 years and 34K miles - still looks like new:
  • rebuilt water & oil pumps,
  • rebuilt tensioner and
  • installed new tensioner rollers (other sprockets were OK);
  • Nology wires and Silverstone plugs;

    Thermally insulated fuel rails with HI temp components (details);

    Cleaned fuel injectors;

    Short shifter installed (still getting use to it);

    New distributor cups and rotors installed;

    New parts installed under the intake manifold: Idle Stabilizer, "floppy" idle control valve and knock sensors;

    Intake manifold, valve covers, thermostat housing, water inlet elbow and control cables bracket painted (details);

    Polyurethane sway bar bushings (not a significant reduction in roll);

    Car seems to accelerate much better, with recognizable improved acceleration in 2nd gear.

    Total cost; parts: over $500; labor: over $2500, total: $3000

    Suspension upgrade:
  • Bilstein/Eibach set for front and rear,
  • Front - rear anti-sway bar system by 928 Specialists,
  • leveled was car (170mm front/163mm rear),
  • middle bar setting was used
  • car was aligned. 
  • Shifting mechanism cap and rear joint replaced.

    New steering wheel from 928 Specialist installed.

    New analog clock installed. 

    Redline NS transaxle oil used for better shifting (this car was purchased w/o LSD option!!).

    Pod restored by Just Dashes (nobody else can do this pod - I know since I had to get new used one to get it done right); great results but pricy (I got it for $400, but now it is $600!!!)

    End result:

  • superb street performance,
  • no freeway harshness,
  • great cornering stability (very low body roll),
  • very smooth shifting - click, click, click, 
  • I am very happy with this setup.
  • Total cost:  parts: over $1900, labor: $1900; Total: $3800.
