William and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Schmidt and family immigrated from Germany in 1871. They resided
in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, Wisconsin in June 1880. They had five children, Herman and
William Jr, both born in Germany, Anna, Albert, and another child, all born in Wisconsin. William
died March 31, 1904 and Minnie died between 1920 and 1930 in Dupont. The Schmidt's were pioneers
of the Dupont Township.
Their son Herman W Schmidt married Ida A Ratzburg, the daughter of Wilhelm F Ratzburg Sr and Marie Dorothea Mallwitz also Dupont pioneers. They were married about 1896 in Dupont. They had at least eight children, one child born after 1900 and died before 1910, John, Frank, Minnie, Herman Jr "Harold", Emma, Harvey, and another daughter who died in 1916 of a concussion at the age of two. Ida died between 1920 and 1930, and Herman resided in the Town of Marion in 1930. Herman and Ida's daughter Emma had a child Lillias M Schmidt born in Milwaukee 1929. Emma later married Walter Brockhaus, son of August Brockhaus and Elizabeth Perschbacher, in 1934. Walter adopted Lillias, and Emma and Walter had seven children of their own. Herman and Ida's son Harold, became a Lutheran minister, and married Lillias Schmidt to her husband Donald Schoenborn, in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan in 1948. |
