THE GODDESS, BABALON

The only known Enochian Goddess is Babalon; she has five sisters in the anagrams of her name. As we have seen, there are a lot of anagrammed names in the Enochian Hierarchy.

Each of the goddesses rule a specific region opening to an Aethyr.
• Obabaln rules the Land of Cycles which has its portal in the Aethyr POP. She is associated with the following cosmic planes: the physical, the astral and the mental.
• Lobaban rules the Land of Love which has its portal in the Aethyr OXO. She is associated with the following cosmic plane: the lower causal.
• Alobabn rules the Land of Righteousness which has its portal in the Aethyr LOE. She is associated with the following cosmic plane: the upper causal.
• Baloban rules the Land of Joy which has its portal in the Aethyr ZIP. She is associated with the following cosmic plane: the lower spiritual.
• Abalobn rules the Land of Delight which has its portal in the Aethyr DEO. She is associated with the following cosmic plane: the middle spiritual.
• Babalon rules the Land of Power which has its portal in the Aethyr ARN. She is associated with the following cosmic plane: the upper spiritual or Divine.

Therefore we notice that Babalon, Baloban and Alobabn correspond to the spiritual world whereas Abalobn, Obabaln and Lobaban tend to materialize.

But what is the specific characteristic of each one of them?
• Babalon is the Mother. Her characteristic is Bliss.
• Abalobn is the Lover. Her characteristic is Love.
• Baloban is the Maiden. Her characteristics are Birth, Innocence and Harmony.
• Alobabn is the Seer. Her characteristic is Insight.
• Lobaban is the Seductress. Her characteristic is Sex.
• Obabaln is the Crone. Her characteristics are Death and Karma.

  
  

  

  
  The Ritual of Babalon, originally designed by G. Schueler:

  This is a VERY long ritual, so I’ve taken the liberty of slightly adapting and reducing it…You’re supposed to perform this ritual skyclad (naked). So, on a Thursday, take a long purification bath, let yourself air dry, then choose yourself a room where you will not be disturbed. :-)

  Draw the Magic Circle of Babalon on the floor or an large piece of white cloth:

  
  

  

  
  The inner circle contains the sigils of the three Governors of the Aethyr ARN (Ah-rah-noo) and the magick word of Babalon written backwards. (The Governors being: DOAGNIS for creative power, PAKASNA for femininity and DIAIVOLA for ecstasy). The circle also contains the word EL (‘highest’) and all 21 letters of the Enochian alphabet, all written backwards. In the center there is a sun/moon disk and the letters X and A in blood red, which are sacred to Babalon. The square represents the altar that you should place within the sun-moon disk. You’re supposed to keep your left foot on X and your right foot on A.
  On the Altar place a cup bearing the 5 colors of Babalon: black, red, white, yellow, and blue. It should be filled with filtered water. Next to the cup, place a sun-moon wooden talisman using the letters O and M, a bean, and a gardenia. A grain of wheat and a geranium may be substituted for those plants.
  At each of the four corners, place beech leaves inside the circle. The bean, the Gardenia and the Beech are all sacred to Babalon.
  Burn incense of sandalwood for protection and development of spirituality.

  Now you’re ready to perform the ritual:
  • Stand outside the circle and breathe deeply while reciting the name of Babalon six times. Facing west, inhale then exhale slowly and say: OM. Repeat until mind is calm of all distracting thoughts.
  • Enter the circle, facing North. Touch forehead with right index finger and say: ZAH. Touch left shoulder and say: ONDOH. Touch right shoulder and say BUZD. Touch both hands together on right breast and say: PAID.
  • Using wand in right hand or simply your hand, turn to the East, trace a yellow Invoking Pentagram of Air, saying: EXARP. Start ‘drawing’ the pentagram from right corner, to left corner, to lower right..etc
  • Turn to the South, trace the red pentagram of Fire, saying: BITOM. Start pentagram from top, to lower right corner…etc
  • Turn to the West, trace the blue pentagram of Water, saying: HKOMA. Start pentagram from left corner, to right..etc
  • Turn to the North, trace the black pentagram of Earth, saying NANTA. Start pentagram from top, to lower left corner, etc..
  • Extend arms outward in the form of a cross, saying:

    Before me IKZHIKAL
    Behind me EDLPRNAA
    On my right BATAIVAH
    On my left RAAGIOSL
    Behold the four Flaming Pentagrams, and I alone in the midst. (hmmm..this is sounding more and more like the LBRP!)

  • Next, turn to the East and say IVITDT while tracing a yellow Invoking Hexagram. “Behold, the burning flames of Truth that consume sorrow, sin and death.”
  • Turn to the South and say: ZTZTZT while tracing the red hexagram of fire. “Behold, the way of Love is to sacrifice all into the Cup.”
  • Turn to the West and say: IVITDT while tracing the blue hexagram of water. “Behold, the burning flames of Truth that consume sorrow, sin and death.”
  • Turn to the North and say ZTZTZT while tracing the black hexagram of earth. “Behold, the way of Love is to sacrifice all into the Cup.”
  • Extend arms outward in the form of a cross, saying:

    Before me MOR-DIAL-HKTGA
    Behind me OIP-TEAA-PDOKE
    On my right ORO-IBAH-AOZPI
    On my left MPH-ARSL-GAIOL
    Above me and below me, my Magickal Universe, and behold, I alone in the midst.

  • Next, consecrate the Cup by placing your right hand over it and saying: BABALON-T-AAI twelve times. Then say: “This purified water, I dedicate to you, O Goddess of the Day and Night Skies.”

  • To enter the Aethyr ARN, face the West, reciting:

    “The Heavens that are in the 19th Aethyr, ARN, are mighty in those regions of the universe, and they carry out the Judgement of the Highest. To them it is said: Behold, the Face of your God. He enables you to govern the Earth, and her unspeakable variety. O Heavens, arise! The Lower Heavens are beneath you; let them serve you! Govern those who govern! Cast down those who are likely to fall! Bring forth with those who increase, and destroy those who are rotten! Arise! Appear before the Covenant of His Mouth which He has sworn to us in His Justice. Unveil the mysteries of your creation…”

    Then recite the Holy names:
    MPH-ARSL-GAIOL (Great Holy Name of Water)
    RAAGIOSL (King of the Watchtower of Water)
    SAOADSI (Ruling Governor of ARN)

  • Visualize ARN, a region that is formless yet is the source of femininity. Say: “I enter my Body of Light and see my self in the Aethyr. Place the gardenia (or geranium) on the talisman, say the word AH seven times. Visualize Babalon receiving the flower and say:

    “O Goddess of the Stars, I pray you receive this offering. Hear me! In this moment I come before you, may I find All in your eyes!”

  • Visualize the Goddess in her naked body and her long red hair. Before assuming the goddess-form of Babalon, see your body as an empty shell only covered with skin. Then invoke her into your own body and mind. This is called the Absorption of the Deity. I sometimes do this spontaneously with Celtic mythological women/goddesses/sidhe, but that’s another story. :-)
  • When you see yourself as the Great Multicolored Goddess, say: “I am Babalon, the Goddess of Space and Time, the Goddess of the Body, the Dew of the Heavens, the Terrible Mother, the Bite of the Vulture, the Sting of the Bee, may OM extingish my karma. I am Babalon, LAMA MI!”
  • Hold the cup in right hand and drink the consecrated water. Slowly recite the words: “ZIRDO MI KRAL BUZD KNILA ZA ZON BABALON.”
  • Say BABALON-T-AII, then hold the talisman in your right hand over the bean (remember the bean?). Say OM 20 times while visualizing a 5-colored ray of light shining from the talisman to the bean. Place the talisman over the bean, this charges the bean that can be eaten later. Concentrate on the outcome of this ritual: protection, or exorcism or cure…
  • Visualize the hexagram and concentrate on Babalon and her ‘goddess-like’ expressions. You now have the ability to pass through the Portals of Power and enter the realm of Babalon.
  • You can now release the goddess-form.
  • Using wand in right hand or simply your hand, turn to the East, trace a yellow BANISHING Pentagram of Air, saying: EXARP.
  • Turn to the South, trace the red pentagram of Fire, saying: BITOM.
  • Turn to the West, trace the blue pentagram of Water, saying: HKOMA.
  • Turn to the North, trace the black pentagram of Earth, saying NANTA.
  • Next, turn to the East and say IVITDT while tracing a yellow BANISHING Hexagram.
  • Turn to the South and say: ZTZTZT while tracing the red hexagram of fire.
  • Turn to the West and say: IVITDT while tracing the blue hexagram of water.
  • Turn to the North and say ZTZTZT while tracing the black hexagram of earth.
