Like we always do about this time...

This page is dedicated to my brothers in life. Whether they are bound to me by blood or by fraternal association, these men have had a great impact in my life. When I have been in need, they have helped me. When I needed counsel, they were quick to provide it. These are my brothers forever. I call these... The Brotherhood.

It all started many years ago when my younger brother, Kindari, and I were just kids. Our oldest brother, Allen, got us started. "One in the blood," Allen would always tell us as we would clasp hands and act like we were cool. "It's the brotherhood." And that was the beginning of it all.

Little did Allen know that he had planted the seeds of an idea in my head that would keep us brothers and friends across time and space forever. Together, my brothers and closest friends now comprise what we have come to call, "The Brotherhood."

And so, you wonder, what is the Brotherhood all about? There are three major ideas the Brotherhood revolves around:

At different times, different ideas may be more emphasized. Normally, good fellowship is what we keep in mind. In times of difficulty, loyalty is emphasized. When there is danger, we focus on providing security. Whether we are bound by family or by friendship, these men have a major impact in my life. Together we live, work, laugh, and play. We roll together for real in this thing called life, and we always bring quality to the show.

Still not getting the picture? Let me help.

Fellowship is like walking up to a craps table in Vegas together to throw dice.

Fellowship is like one of my brothers out-running a cop in his convertible with the top down and me in the passenger seat.

Loyalty is like the day in high school that I carried a mini-wooden baseball bat to school in order to defend one of my brothers from a bully, even when my brother and I were fighting amongst ourselves.

Security is like the day I was sitting at home and my pager blew up with an emergency "1000" code. Some stupid kid at work wanted to fight one of my brothers. This kid was confident because all of his friends were around, but nobody was backing up my brother. No worries. My brother knew what to do, and within 10 minutes I was on the scene with another guy, and we were ready to back up my friend. Needless to say, my brother won that fight.

The foundations of the Brotherhood were forged in my middle school days, as I saw my older brothers stick together in tough times. The idea was passed on to my generation, and it developed through high school and college, and continues on today.

Christian, pictured above, has been my close friend and brother since the 8th grade. He was recently promoted to a management position at Coca Cola Bottling, Inc.

Kindari, my blood brother, is a professional DJ, business owner, producer, and a senior at Purdue. In the pictures up top, we are kicking back at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

Allen - My brother Allen, my oldest blood brother, taught me many important lessons as I was growing up. As a little kid I looked up to my oldest brother for advice and fun and adventure. It is probably because of Allen that I chose to do my undergrad degree in political science. When I was young, he taught me all about military doctrine and command structure and we used to talk a lot about national politics. That fueled my developing interest in national government and political systems. More importantly, as a kid growing up in a home away from my dad, I relied on my brother Allen for vital information about girls and sex. Allen taught me also how to wrestle. The wrestling skills that he taught me have stayed with me. Even though I have not had to use them much in my life, it is still always nice to know that I have those skills if I need them. Ever true to our rally cry of old, Allen and I remain, "One in the blood." Allen and I have cruised, skated, BSed people, hit on women, and thrown down the opposition together. For obvious reasons, this man is truly my brother. And if you don't know, now you know.

Monte - Monte, my second oldest blood brother, has had a major impact in my life as well. One of the most important lessons that Monte taught me was how to stick up for myself in the face of adversity. Monte used to coach me on how to verbally strike fear in to the minds of would-be bullies or adversaries. Part of my pro-active determination and aggressive attitude and ability to stay calm in the midst of a heated situation is due to the skills that Monte taught me as I was growing up. Monte also introduced me to all kinds of new music, including rap, metal, and old school funk. When I was young, Monte also taught me how to dance to popular music, a skill that I continue to benefit from every time I walk in to a rave or party. In high school, the dance moves that Monte showed me merited me a lot of love from girls, much needed to boost the confidence of a boy who was naturally smart and thus always involved in school work, and thus not always the most popular guy in school with the girls. Monte gave me a lot of the skills that helped me stay in play, and in effect, with women. For obvious reasons, this man is truly my brother. And if you don't know, now you know.
