Anyone who knows me well knows that my faith in Jesus Christ is an important source of strength and direction in my life. Having faith in Jesus Christ means much more than simply believing something about a man that lived 2,000 years ago... It also means believing something about myself, namely that I was created in the image and likeness of God; that is, that I am called to be a righteous individual.
This beautiful feature of the Christian faith is often overlooked or misunderstood. Yes, we as Christians accept on faith that Christ is the most perfect model for us to follow of righteousness. Yet we forget often that not only did Christ come to give us the model - He also had the idea to make us righteous like Himself.
My life in Christ, then, is marked by the pursuit of absolute righteousness, for the glory of God. This means seeking righteousness first in all people - it means seeing Christ in the non-believer, in the most wretched homeless lady on the street, and in my closest friends. Life in Christ means being mindful of my own sins, and earnestly working to remove sin from my life. It means serving as an example for my friends, family, and colleagues. It means ministering to those who do not yet know or believe in the Good News of Christ's Resurrection, while also engaging in active fellowship with those who do.
Leading a life in Christ means also being knowledgeable about the historical, philosophical, theological, and real foundations of the Christian tradition. It means having a soul generated by charity.
