My Education

I consider education to be one of the most defining aspects of any person, as it helps citizens be civically responsible adults, and promotes the general welfare of our society. I have long felt that increasingly our society will move away from the class division of today that is based on financial wealth to a class system in the future based on education. There are already signs of this emerging in today's society. Quality higher education is becoming increasingly accessible to members of the lower class, and this means that our workforce overall is becoming more educated. The education of the people of a civilization where the people are the sovereign power is truly a glorious and beautiful idea to comprehend.

I knew at an early age that I was destined for great things. Education is the bridge from now to the land of future greatness.

As a child, I would talk to my cousins about what kind of doctor I was going to be when "I grew up." And I hope I'm not totally grown up yet (I hope never to be!), but I can say that at an early age I already knew the importance of doing well in school… It was stressed in my home. I was well rewarded for my academic progress. I am grateful to my family for that.

I attended high school at William Henry Harrison High School in W. Lafayette, IN, where I graduated in 1996 with the academic honors diploma. I was blessed in going to a high school with a strong academic curriculum. I gained early exposure to Chemistry, Physics, languages, technical drawing, English, History, and study hall. Hehehehe…. oops I meant calculus.

When I started at Purdue in August of 1996, I was originally accepted in to Engineering but I was not interested in that at the time so much. My analytical mind found its home in the political science department. I graduated 3 years later (almost exactly) in August of 1999 with the Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with many hours of honors coursework.

Loyola Graduate School of Business

The city of Chicago was calling my name, so I applied and was accepted to Loyola University Chicago to study at their Graduate School of Business for an M.B.A. degree. I completed the work for that degree in February of 2002, but I wanted more and the job market was terrible for M.B.As, even from the big schools. If Kellogg was only placing 50% of its students in May, 2002, Loyola was placing a lot less than that. I wasn't about to work in the private sector and lose my mind for $30-40,000 a year. I knew that I wanted a Ph.D. at some point in my life, and the timing was too good for me.

I applied and was accepted to the University of Arizona doctoral program in finance, which I started in August of 2002 and am currently enrolled in.
