My family

The unity and love of my family is perhaps the most significant driving force and source of motivation in my life. By ethnicity, I am mostly Irish, although I have a small amount of Native American (Cherokee) blood in me from my mother's side. I was always raised to believe that among all other concerns, family is to occupy the first priority, and it does.

The majority of my close family lives in Indiana. I have been blessed to have a family that is unified in its support of me and my goals. I am forever grateful to my family for believing in me and supporting me in my endeavors far away from home.

My parents divorced when I was in junior high school, but I always knew as a kid growing up that they both loved me, and that I was not the reason for their break up. I think in awe of the amazing sacrifices that both of my parents made to support and care for me in my childhood. I am not so naive as to think that I have arrived anywhere close to a complete realization of everything they have taught me, the values they have instilled in me, or the impact they have had in my life. (For more on the things that my parents taught me, see my "Mentors" page.) All I know is that both of my parents always expressed their love to me, and I love both my mother and father very much. I hope that my life proves to be a testament to them, and that my future success will serve their posterity well.

All three of my brothers continue to impress me with the progress that they make in their lives. For better or for worse, the four of us have always been and always will be bound in a special way. Our lives have taken us down a variety of roads, some more difficult to navigate than others, but we have always been an invincible team.

And so, fellow citizens of the world, let it be known to you that if you deal with me, you deal with the might of my family... and if you deal with my family, you deal with me. There is no difference, then, between my interests and the interests of my family. My interests are theirs, and theirs are mine.

The best in life is yet to come! I love you, O family, whether you are near or distant!
