AM Station #1

 

 

This station consists of:

Hammarlund HQ-180AXN receiver Hammarlund HQ-145A receiver Heathkit Mohawk RX-1 receiver Heathkit Apache TX-1 transmitter 

Antennas: 

450' loop antenna fed with 450 ohm line
1/2 wave vertical antenna for ten meters

This station could also be called my Dayton project station, as I found most of this equipment at the Dayton hamfest in recent years.


The HQ-180A had no front panel rim and very little sensitivity. A second HQ-180A parts unit provided the missing pieces. Alignment, cleaning and paint brought this receiver back to life. This is my best receiver. It sounds great and is very sensitive.


The Apache had 'all the audio mods' in it. Unfortunately it is was Dead on Arrival from Dayton. After fixing the mods, it worked fine!
