We bought a home on the west side of Phoenix, AZ. about two years ago, and are happy to not be in an apartment. First thing I did in our new place was to put dibs on which bedroom was to be my shack. In hindsite, I should have waited until the weather got warm since I managed to pick the HOTTEST room in the house! You can find me on 14.230 playing with SSTV most of the time when I am not at work. Every once and a while, I work a bit of voice and like to work DX. Sometimes you might catch me on PSK31, but that is seldom. I run a Yaesu FT-920 with a Ameritron AL-811 amp at 600 watts (with 572b tubes to help stand the extra strain on the amp) into an MFJ 989C antenna tuner. Audio into the rig is a Heil Goldline with a foot switch/boom setup. I also use a rigblaster for the interface into a E-Machines computer at 2.0 Ghz. that is dedicated to ham radio. I have a couple different set-ups for headphones, computer keyboard, mouse and internet, they are all are wireless! The CW key is an all chrome Bencher paddle and I can do about 18 WPM with it. All that is fed into a G5RV at 50 Ft. and is soon to be a tri-band yagi and tower. If you think I have a good signal now on SSTV, just wait!
