From time to time a man

tries to pick up a hobby his father started.

Matchcover collecting and especially U.S. Navy Matchcovers provide an avenue of preserving a bit of history.  From the mid-thirties to the early sixties Military matchcovers were produced.  I have tried to amass the textual and photographic history of Battleships, Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, Destroyers, Submarines, Auxiliary Ships, Bases and Aircraft Squadrons.  Each match-cover reflects a duty station to be proud of, to serve a country and protect a way of life.

Although smoking is no longer fashionable and is found to be hazardous to ones health, match-covers allow us to greet history with a greater awareness of the men and women who gave their lives for their country.
