N.C. 350  dead
Formerly: NC 350 was born about 1933. It began in Colerain at its parent, NC 35 (today this goes by NC 45), and proceeded west to NC 30A (now part of US 13) Powellsville.
In 1940-41, NC 350 was extended west over what had been part of NC 30 to end at NC 305 Aulander.

NC 350 was killed in 1973 when NC 42 was extended east along it. In the Aulander area, this is also part of NC 11.

N.C. 381  12 miles
The Road: Begins at US 74 Business east of Hamlet and ends at the South Carolina State Line, all within Richmond County. SC 381 continues south through McColl, Clio, and ends at SC 38 Blenheim.
Towns and Attractions: Gibson
History: NC 381 was born in 1937 as part of the South Carolina renumbering. It ran just like it does today. Previously it had been the first NC 78.

NC 381 has not changed a whit since then.
Comment: NC 381 has a brief multiplex with NC 79 in Gibson.
SC 381 existed a few years before NC 381, and once formed a horseshoe where it met back up with US 15 well west of Bennettsville.

N.C. 400  1/2 mile
The Road: Begins at US 64 Business Manteo and ends at the Elizabeth II Historical Park, still within Manteo in Dare County
Towns and Attractions: Manteo, Elizabeth II Vessel, Lost Colony Attractions
History: NC 400 was born around 1985. It ran as it does now, except US 64 Business was then mainline US 64-264

NC 400 has not undergone any changes.
Comment: NC 400 is posted only on brown background signs. NC 400 does split into two one-way streets, It is awfully coincidental that the creation of NC 400 occurred 400 years after the founding of the Lost Colony.
