| N.C. 109 (early 1920's) | ||||
| Formerly: | The original NC 109 was short lived. It was the westernmost spur of NC 10, shown on the 1922 Auto Trails Map as running from NC 10 (current US 19-74-129) Murphy to Warne and Hayesville. NC 109 may have also dipped south into Georgia from Hayesville (map is vague). Georgia did not have a primary highway meeting up at that location. NC 109 met an early end by 1923, when NC 28 was extended west from Franklin to Murphy. NC 287 was assigned to the part from Hayesville south to Georgia.
Most of NC 109's routing is no longer primary as improvemets have been made over the years. Today it is US 64 from Murphy to NC 141, Old US 64 and Phillips Road to Brasstown, Warne, and back to US 64 Bus in Hayesville. From there it would've used Sanderson Rd. until it reached Georgia (under Chatuge Lake now) Current NC 109 is well documented at NCRoads.com link |
