U.S. 23-A  renumbered
History:

The only US 23-A was created in 1951 or 1952 as a renumbering of US 23. At that time it ran along Haywood Rd through West Asheville and across the French Broad River, then north along Clingman Ave to Patton Ave, which mainline US 23 followed through the entire area.
US 23-A was cosigned in its entirety with US 19-A and had a multiplex with NC 191 as well.
US 23-A was renumbered as US 23 Business in 1960.
Today, everything east of today's I-240 is no longer primary routing, but west of 240 is still US 19-23 Business.
