Gemini

When any planet is in Gemini, or Gemini is on the cusp of any House, the matters covered by the planet or House will be affected by Gemini characteristics.

The third sign in the "Circle of Animals," Gemini rules the Third House, communication, mentation and the conscious mind.

As with every sign of the Zodiac, Gemini has its good qualities and its ... well, not so good qualities! You remember the little jingle -- Gemini's good qualities are very good indeed, but the less-good can be downright horrid! A mutableAir sign ruled by Mercury, Gemini is truly as constant as the wind ... constantly moving, thinking, changing. The other sign ruled by Mercury, Virgo, has Earth's practicality keeping Merc "tethered to the ground" -- not so for Gemini. It is the wind that blows the seeds of change all hither and yon!

Gemini's influence upon the Planets and Houses under its rule may involve communication, and will tend to function optimally when approached with logic and reason, rather than emotion and intuition. Some of the gifts of Gemini include a facility for all manners of communication -- verbal, written, even atmospheric -- which may be interpreted by some as glibness. Another such gift is the ability not simply to weather change, but to revel in it. Gemini-influenced minds are usually quick and agile, and Gemini's interests range far and wide. Similar to Aries, the Gemini individual may need to watch a tendency to suddenly drop things, places, or other people suddenly, as the interest begins to wane. Variety is definitely one of the Twins' keywords!

Alert and inquisitive, bright and curious, the individual with a strong natal Gemini influence will make a delightful companion who may bring new light to old situations and be a catalyst for the others in his or her circle -- bringing them together (siblings and neighbors fall under the realm of the Third House), mixing easily in a variety of social situations -- or perhaps driving them apart (there's at least a touch of the "trickster archetype" to the mythological Hermes, who was the Lord of thieves, liars, and crossroads as well as the "Divine Messenger").

Perhaps the biggest bane facing these creative, witty people is a lack of self-discipline and focus. Since Gemini delights in learning, these children of Mercury are able to teach themselves perseverence: once they've mastered the ability to see things through to the end, they'll be practically unstoppable. It may be hard to pin these guys down, for they'll be both diplomatic and creative, possibly delighting in the Devil's Advocate role.

Sexually, Gemini is also generally committed to variety, experimentation, possibly "polyamory," though not necessarily. There are monogamous Geminians, though they'll likely maintain a high ratio of versatility, craving "something new" so often that "a little different" is probably the norm. Unless there are harsh aspects, the Gemini individual will probably maintain an easygoing, rational attitude toward sexuality in general, and this is a good thing, although a tenderhearted partner whose feelings have been hurt may not always think so! Remember, casual does not always equal superficial, and natural charm is not necessarily fickleness.
