Nickumbus started the Newfoundland craze at the Janssen home in 2005. I have always wanted giant breed dogs and patiently waited for the right time in the children's lives and ours. Nickumbus is the center of our hearts and home and believes he exists solely to keep us happy. He was born January 21, 2005 at Pandaville Newfoundlands in northern Mississippi. Nick loves the water and being around people. We recently completed Delta Society training with Nick and recieved a "complex" rating for real-life visitation for therapy visits, which he loves to participate in. Shortly after Nick came to our home we realized how social Newfoundlands can be. Nickumbus was always under foot and longed for our attention no matter how much we gave him. Others in the Newf world lamented that this is very common for the breed and that, in fact, it is often easier to have 2 Newfs than just one due to the added company for the dog. We decided that our second boy should be a landseer and struck gold with Maximus. Maximus was born July 6, 2005 in Milton, Wisconsin under Judy Kliscz. Maximus comes from Wathbear's Tekia Girl and Watchbear's Rowdy and looks just like his Great-Grandfather Espen 'till Kloofbear only black and white. His headpiece is huge and he has outweighed his proportionately correct "brother" Nick since shortly after he arrived.
