Pictures from the Hard Knots’ Voyages

Lava the cat welcoming me to the cockpit after a night’s sleep.

Lava on the dinghie. I had to stop him from drinking sea water by shooting him with a manual bilge pump.

Hard Knots forced launch after both tricycle landing gears break.  It was sparks galore!!

Standing up by the boom.

A pretty standard Hard Knots’ breakfast. Eggs and oranges, sometimes I added corn-beef and hash.

Lava having his breakfast. Wells S/D Perscription because of his little, “problem.”

Lava resting.. His claws are touching the boom vang’s line.

Lava and I sleeping in the main berth.

One persky and fearless pelican.

Me practicing the use of a sextant.

Me reading in the V-Berth on a rainy day.

Protecting the tiller. Notice the worthless tiller-tamer.  Also: Lava’s cage has fenders tied to it.

A four your old pic of me sailing to Catalina back in 02.  Those old solar panels were replaced.

The Hard Knots testing new equipment on Saguaro Lake in Arizona before the voyage to Hawaii.

Stern of Hard Knots on trailer.

Lava looking back at me while on Lake Pleasant in Arizona.

Brian installing the new “v-berth” although as you can see, it’s not really a v-berth anymore.

testing the bow’s navigation lights.

Is there a better way to re-rire a mast? This was a pain in the ass.

Brian installing a wind-vane for the masthead. Note  the radar reflector, VHF aerial, and anchor light already installed.
