This
How-To is a guide showing how I installed JDM EG side markers on my 1992 Civic
Si. The location of the markers shown in my guide is not the true 100% JDM
OEM side marker location, but it is the closest I could get to it based off
of many pictures and talking to people who own real EG6s. It is important
that during the cutting portion eye and face protection is worn as well as
a dust mask. This how-to is meant to serve as a guide line. Verify all dimensions
on the templates after printing because some printers and programs auto-scale.
The installation is relatively easy, it just requires patience and a steady
hand.
Tools and Supplies:

1. Cut out the template, cut along the top of the molding and the center line (door seem). Cut very carefuly, this determines where the marker will be placed on the door. If you think my location is off you can move it to where ever you want. After the template is cut out tape it to your fender so that the corner where the door seem and fender meet on the template is exactly positioned on top of where the door seem and fender meet on the car itself (see picture to the right). This ensures the template is level and positioned properly.
2. Flip up the template and apply glue to the back. Flip it back down onto the fender and smooth it out. Make sure its position did not change.

3. With the template in the desired location begin cutting. Cut slowly and inside the lines. Make sure the wheel is level or else it will snap. When you are done it should look something like the picture on the left.
4. Use a shop towell dipped in warm water to remove all of the glue and paper.
5. Paint all feshly exposed metal with touch-up paint, this is extremely important to protect against rust.
6. Remove the corner marker and using a coat hanger run the 22 awg wire through
the fender from the corner out the hole for the side marker.
7. In Japan the side markers only illuminate when the turn signals are in use or when the emergency flashers are on. They do not illuminate when the parking lights are on, the parking lights are in JDM headlights. To wire them up this way splice only into the corner marker wires in the table below. If you want the side markers to be on when the parking lights are on then splice the side marker wiring into all 3 wires behind the corner marker for each side. Solder all connections and cover them with shrink-tube or electrical tape.
Description |
Color |
Location |
| Right Turn Signal Light Signal | green/yellow | behind right corner lamp |
| Right Turn Signal Light Ground | black | behind right corner lamp |
| Left Turn Signal Lights Signal | green/blue | behind left corner lamp |
| Left Turn Signal Light Ground | black | behind left corner |
8. Test to see that the side markers only illumate when the turn signals or the emergency flashers are on.
9. Gently work the the side marker
into the fender. Get the front of the side marker started (side opposite the
one with the metal clip) and gently work it back. Fitment should be tight, but
if you can't get it in then remove material little by little, either from the
fender or the side marker. You should be able to remove the side marker from
the door with a flat head screw driver, not your fingers.
10. Sit back and enjoy your blinging JDM side markers.
