Nate's Mostly Random Web Page

My name is Nate... and I'm addicted to old cars.  Particularly Studebakers and Volkswagens.

Unfortunately, I have had to cut out some of the content of this site.  I moved in November '06 and my new ISP seems to be a little more strict about personal web space quotas than my old one was.  A lot of the old project pictures have had to go, but I've attempted to keep all the tech. info. that you're probably here looking for.

Stuff you might have actually come here looking for:

FOR SALE:

Porsche 914 project or excellent parts car

Technical type stuff:

Studebaker Maintenance Parts List - .pdf file
Please let me know if you find any errors on this list, or have anything to add. (updated whenever I have something to add; check back regularly)
Recent updates: lots of new part numbers in belts and hoses as several manufacturers have started listing Studebaker part numbers on their web sites.  However, if you look up by application on their web sites accuracy is still not so good so I recommend either checking here or using Studebaker numbers to look these up.
Also added is some more information on shock absorbers.  I would really appreciate any feedback on the interchanges, good or bad.
I still am generating this from a spreadsheet, if you would like to have a copy of the spreadsheet to play with it is here.

Goodyear Catalog Applications for Studebaker Cars
(Note: this is a straight scan of the pages of a Goodyear catalog, converted to table form.  There may be errors or discrepancies...)

Automotive bulbs - 6V and 12V equivalents
Created when I was having trouble with a 12V conversion on my '55 coupe.  Might help you too, who knows.

Studebaker Speedster and 56-61 Hawk Tachometer
Tach doesn't work?  Want to add a correct tach to your Hawk?  Here's the common problems and repairs for your old Pulse Drive tach.

*new* German Car Bulb Charts - .pdf file
Why do owner's manuals and factory shop manuals omit this useful information?  The world may never know, but I've thrown it up here for your edification.  Print it out and put it in your glovebox and you'll be good to go.  Current listings are VW Corrado and Porsche 944  (also available as spreadsheet here.)

Pictures of stuff and other random foo:

My Projects
Some of the more recent pictures of what I've been working on, when not sitting in front of a computer or actually doing the job I'm paid to do.
(not uploaded yet; I'll get to that soon, I promise...)

If you somehow ended up here searching for general information on Studebaker or VW cars:

Studebaker On The Net
One of many sites on the Studebaker Web Ring and a good place to start surfing for Studebaker information.

The Usenet group alt.autos.studebaker is the best place to get good Studebaker information fast!
alt.autos.studebaker through your news server
alt.autos.studebaker through Google Groups

Essential Studebaker forums:
Studebaker Drivers Club forums
Racing Studebakers forums
Spend some time browsing around the SDC and Racing Studebakers web sites, too, if you haven't already.

For you watercooled VW guys...
rec.autos.makers.vw.watercooled through your news server
rec.autos.makers.vw.watercooled through Google Groups

Corrado owners should especially check out the
Corrado Club of Canada forums

For the aircooled VW fans
rec.autos.makers.vw.aircooled through your news server
rec.autos.makers.vw.aircooled through Google Groups

Please do not post pictures to either of the VW newsgroups. The Studebaker newsgroup is an exception; most groups without the word "binaries" in the name do not welcome attachments.

Porsche 944 owners should definitely check out the
Pelican Parts 924/944/968 forum

Some random stuff that I find interesting and/or useful.
