Top 10

LaJolla/Pacific developers want to build a 148 foot condo tower straight up from 3rd avenue to 4th avenue on the north half of this block on University Avenue. We need the community to activate and to physically pack City Council chambers with bodies in opposition to this project.

Top 10 reasons to oppose this project:

1. 14 stories is too high too soon for this neighborhood.

2. This project is completely out of character and scope for this 'City of Villages' neighborhood.

3. Traffic on this one-lane each way street is already bottlenecked - can you imagine what it will be like when this is built?

4. Sunlight will be blocked out for everything east and west for a block.

5. The hospitals are being used as justification for this height - however, the medical complex area is defined separately in the Uptown Community Plan - obviously.

6. No public improvements are being done in conjunction with this project - the developers said they wouldn't pay for it!

7. Pay parking for the public is included in this project - do you think it will be affordable?!?

8. Water/sewage utilities in this neighborhood are not being upgraded to accommodate this or any other major complex being built in this neighborhood.

9. Population in San Diego is shrinking and condo prices are falling - is this the right time for the city to throw away our community plan to make a quick buck?

10. This is the FIRST tower to be built in Hillcrest in over 20 years - NOT the last. Developers WILL see this as an open door to build more high rises in Hillcrest.
