The history of the club, if you're curious... when I first came to New Orleans, the only juggling club I could find was called "Jackson Square Jugglers" and it consisted of two people--Chris Grant and Mike Bolton. Three if you counted me, and I only juggled with the two of them once (though I juggled with Mike much more later. He's now attending medical school in California).  Then I met three other jugglers at Tulane, and we cofounded a club that was at once a Tulane club and not a Tulane club--we didn't make it an official university club because a. it's very complicated and b. we wanted it to be 100% accessible to non-students, a community club.  Before long, I was the one doing all the organizing, recruiting, and badgering members into showing up for meetings.

A little later, small groups of jugglers started surfacing.  there was a Loyola Juggling Club (3 people), a Delgado club (5-6  people), some jugglers from Metairie (3 people), and a few random jugglers and circus people who did or did not have regular meetings. Not to mention the unicycle club.  In time, we all merged (except I would say that unicycle club is still a separate entity), and because of all these different backgrounds and scattered locations, at times we had 3-4 meetings a week, all in different locations (Audubon park, Lafreniere Park, Delgado, the A.R.K. Theater on Marigny, Tulane campus, possibly others).

On April 28th, 2002 my wife spotted an article published in the Harahan Picayune section of our newspaper. It consisted of photos of several club members and their motivations for juggling. Although I had juggled for 10 years, most of my practice had been solo, so I jumped at the chance to work with others that shared my interest. I have only been attending for a month, but I have already learned several new tricks and feel that I have made several new friends.
